In this chapter you will learn about the F-clef and G-clef with the number 8 added above or below. The addition of the number 8 directs the musician to perform the music an octave higher than indicated (with the number 8 added above) or an octave lower than indicated (with the number 8 added below). These clefs are called octave clefs.


Octave clefs

 

G-sleutel G-clef with a figure 8 symbol added above play all notes one octave higher than written.
G-sleutel G-clef with a figure 8 symbol added below play all notes one octave lower than written.
F-sleutel F-clef with a figure 8 symbol added above play all notes one octave higher than written.
